DATA SCIENCE AT THE CORE

Science & Efficacy

As a leading data science and health technology company, we are unashamedly 100% evidence-based. Our approach is based only on the latest proven science and we develop our content and app features in conjunction with leading international scientific and academic advisors who ensure the clinical quality and efficacy of the app. Our advisors and partners comprise expert representatives across the health sector, including: digital health, lifestyle health risks, healthcare analytics, nutrition, pain and musculoskeletal conditions, physical activity and cardiovascular risks, mental health, population health and health promotion.

Our app is regularly reviewed (at least quarterly) by qualified internal and external experts to ensure it remains at the forefront of best practice and to incorporate the latest in health, science, and regulatory innovation and information.

Our process

Real world effectiveness

In a world full of marketing hype and false promises, it’s critical that we cut through the noise with an app that’s clear, unambiguous, and effective in delivering on its promise.

Everyone’s health journey is different – here’s what we see across all our members around the world

Our app is regularly reviewed (at least quarterly) by qualified internal and external experts to ensure it remains at the forefront of best practice and to incorporate the latest in health, science, and regulatory innovation and information.

Peer-reviewed research & clinical trials

The rise of wearables and connected devices has given rise to billions upon billions of data points – we are committed to leading the way in evidence-based and validated means of helping make sense of all this data and using it to truly help people live a longer, happier, and healthier life.

In 2021, we will be engaging in clinical trials which will compare a randomly chosen group of participants who will be distributed into a test and a control group. They will be assessed over a period of time to determine how their health behaviours and outcomes improve after using the HeadUp app.

The results will be published in a peer reviewed journal.

Clinical governance

HeadUp has a deeply embedded digital health governance framework which focuses on the end user experience, seeks to effectively manage risk, promotes a shared responsibility for a safe and high-quality product, and enables ongoing improvement.

Our governance approach and framework serves to promote an embedded culture of safety and quality across everything HeadUp does and is modelled on the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC) governance framework, as set forth in its National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS) and spans both business and digital health governance.

UNLOCKING SILOED DATA REPOSITORIES

Our data stack

Our validated models

This enables us to not only deliver highly personalised, actionable, and timely insights and recommendations to our members, but also gain a holistic picture of each person’s health and triage and signpost them without the need for expensive medical tests, blood draws, and external diagnostics.

Our machine learning and AI parse this data to rapidly triage and make inferences about symptoms and future predictions of health. Our innovative technology is patent pending and has led to research which is slated for peer-reviewed publication later this year. Our validated models are ‘glass box’ XAI and span a broad range of markers and are constantly being expanded and evolved.

Furthermore, we invest significantly in the usability of our platform and in harnessing novel forms of behavioural economics to help facilitate meaningful behaviour change, including contributing to the research literature on these topics: Enabling Cocreation With Transformative Interventions: An Interdisciplinary Conceptualization of Consumer Boosting (Martin BielerPeter MaasLukas Fischer, Nele Rietmann, April 15, 2021)
